Next, teamgreene has been away from Chattanooga since early April. We miss them terribly. We were making monthly trips during the summer but ever since Autumn has been back in school it has been harder for us to make the 6.5 hours trip to Duke. We have not been to see Riley & Teresa & Joel since August for Riley's birthday. Not only have I been missing them , Autumn REALLY misses them and now Tyler has started asking me to go to "Ridee's Hospital" every day- all day long. We are praying very hard for them to be home on the target date of Nov 22-- pray, pray, pray.

A few months ago I had some teamgreene fabric made by Spoonflower. I have made several different items with this: Auty Tops, Pins, Lanyard Pulls and now I have made a special little gift for Tyler to carry around- a LiTTLe WooT WooT teamgreene oWL

This Friday we are heading to meet and visit with Lannae for the Madison County Artist Market. I could not be more exited. Madison County is about 30 minutes from Athens, GA (University of Georgia Bulldog country) I asked Lannae a few weeks ago if she thought Univ. of GA Auty Tops would sell or not. Women can be tricky about fashion and sports mixing. I loved her answer: "Yes, women Georgia fans love to show their spirit but not wear the logo... they want to wear Red/Black and look like a MILLION BUCKS." I don't know if they will look like a million bucks but I thought it was pretty darn cute. What do you think ?

Isn't it funny how sometimes it is hard to remember what you did yesterday and then other days you can remember things which happened YEARS ago. I have a hard time remembering if I switched the laundry last night from the washer to the dryer but I can remember exactly what I was doing on this day exactly three years ago. Three years ago today (at about this same time) I was rushing to Chattanooga from Dalton for my 36 week prenatal appt. with Dr. White. I was late because Natalie and I were in a meeting with Santa Claus who was arriving at the mall on Saturday. During my appointment Dr. White did the norm, told me everything looked good and he would see me in two weeks..... to be continued (tomorrow)

This weekend my life caught up with me. After work on Friday I realized, "Hey, I'm Tired" (thank you Rachel for taking both of the crazies) and then on Saturday I realized " Hey, I might be sick" and then by Sunday I wasn't getting out of bed. its beginning to look alot like.....

Before I start the post I wanted to give everyone EXCITING news regarding teamgreene. Last night Teresa gave me the news a target date has been set for Riley, Teresa & Joel to come home to Chattanooga. With many prayers and no bumps in the road we will be eating turkey with them Thanksgiving Day. Nothing in this world could make me happier. Thank you to each one of you who have prayed and sent your thoughts during Riley's stay @ Duke.

(hopefully this will be us on Nov. 26- minus Tyler's hair)

Every year Christmas seems to get here earlier and earlier.Working in retail we ignore Thanksgiving and skip right from Halloween to Christmas. I have to admit I do love being in retail management this time of year. It is so much fun getting a little sneak peak at some of the hot items and sales. This year stores have already decorated with Christmas trees & lights and stocked the shelves with stocking stuffers.

SewCute @ Knitting Mill

After a week of long nights, early mornings, scavenging antique malls for pillowcases, digging through my Aunt Penny's  attic I am so proud to announce a permanent location for SewCute Shop in Chattanooga- SewCute @ Knitting Mill Antiques.

Thank you to my Aunt Penny for loaning me the antique furniture she has been storing from my Great-Grandfather, Roy O'Neal. The two dressers are from the 1940's and the sewing machine table is from the 1930's. I also made the sweetest, SewCutest vintage, embroidered pillowcase dresses- one in each size 0-7years.

I used an old sewing drawers from the 1920's to home the camera strap covers. Very primitive.

SewCute @ Knitting Mill will be stocked with all the items found in SewCute Shop plus more vintage. The Knitting Mill is located on Manufactures Road in Chattanooga's North Shore District. For those of you who came to the Walnut Street Bridge to see us this weekend, THANK YOU and fortunately we safely made it off the bridge with all of SewCute Shop.

Rachel & I had were vending at Oktoberfest  this weekend. The Chattanooga Market sponsored the event this year and expanded for a Saturday Market on the bridge. We had been warned via numerous email newsletters- "It can be quite windy on the bridge, be prepared" BUT- prepared we were not.

As soon as our 'camper tent' went up it started to blow over along with all of the hanging mannequin. The 'SewCute' Girls were half naked all day long due to their pants flying off (and they were not even enjoying the Big River Brew). While we were 'holding down the tent' I heard several vendors scream " OH NO" I looked over the bridge and saw this:

Thankfully my sister is a genius ! After a quick trip to Wal-Mart our tent was secure with 10 lbs of barbells and close to 25 bungee cords. I had good intentions of getting pictures all day but my fingers were so frozen I could not click away

Today {Sunday} did turn out to be a MUCH.BETTER day @ First Tennessee Chattanooga Market. I met tons of new people including the cutest little boy named Max. {which I loved his hair} Max is 4 years old and he speaks using sign language. I kept telling him how much I loved his hair and he kept taking his thumb and two fingers (making like a chicken beak) to every question I asked him. Not knowing what 'that sign' was I just kept talking to him. Finally his grandmother who he calls "honey" told me he was telling me "No" because he was shy.

Then Rachel walked up and he fell in love with her. He was trying to talk to her by covering his trake tube to let her know his name was "Ethan" which he signed by using the letter "E". Then he wanted to weat her sunglasses, tiouch her face, play with her hair and wear her green headband. It was really very special how he and Rachel 'talked' to each other. Plus, his mommy bought the cutest Florida Gators Little Man Tee which they must have dropped & it was turned in to the front desk. If you know this family please get them in touch with me, I would love to get them their shirt.

There was only one Auty Top which did not sell over this weekend. I was really hoping for a SELL OUT SHOW. Lucky you guys... I listed it here for only $25 ! (and it's in Amy Butler's LOVE LINE} , please note this can not be used for any giveaways.

thursday thoughts

While I was strolling around my blog rolls last night I came across Ali's post and thought "hey I need to post like that". I always hate 'copying' anyones post in fear they will think "that little copy cat"  but since I'm pretty sure Ali doesn't hit mine everyday- I'll take my chances.

She made a list of what is going on in her world today and it reminded me "man, we are all so much alike" I could seriously steal about half of her bullet points as things I needed to get done or have going on right now.

I would like to post a calm, serene picture like she did :

...But I just could not get it right so instead I am going to post a picture of the person I am missing the most right now, I had no idea how much I loved being with her and her family until we have all been apart for these last 6 months.

I going to warn you, these thoughts are random... here goes

• Yesterday I found the (2) cutest fabric stores in Atlanta. Knitch and Red Hen Fabrics. Very different but I loved them both. @ Red Hen on your birthday you get to 'pull an egg' from the scarp fabrics to win a prize. I won 3 free yards of VALUE FABRIC. I'm planning on making Autumn a cute Halloween School Shirt with this

• I am so tired from staying up late I can barely hold my eyes open. I think last night I was going a little delirious watching Jimmy Kimmel Live ! I was laughing at the most stupid jokes I have ever heard.

• Tyler has started being picked up on Mondays/Fridays by Nana @ Mrs. Cheryl's. I think it is so cute when he wakes up and says "Is it Nana's Day ?"

• Autumn has always went to church with my mom. Even when we started going to Christ she kept going with my mom. Pentecostal vs. Methodist. Big Difference. Last Sunday night she cam home and said "Mom, I got saved tonight" this shocked me a little because she has always been very religious. She told me she planned on getting baptized and wanted to make sure I would be there. I said of course. Then she asked me when was the last time I had been to church. Now, I don't go as often as I should, but I go. She then told me she let MY mom (the church police) know she thinks it was when she was in Kindergarten. Great Answer Autumn. Im for sure on the prayer list now.

• This weekend is Oktoberfest in Chattanooga @ Walnut Street Bridge. Check it out if you live near Chattanooga. SewCute Shop will be there.

• My carpet needs cleaning by a professional (make that my whole house)

to thread or not to thread

to thread or not to thread ? this was my big question last night as I winded my last bobbin of my-all-time-fave-thread, Aurfil.

 
  

When I first started sewing I just grabbed the least expensive thread I could find @ Wal-Mart-. Thread is thread, right. Nope. The right thread will make all the difference in your sewing projects.

I was first introduced to Aurifil by Susie at SewBeeIt. I mentioned I needed to pick up some thread, she suggested Aurfil- she did disclaimer the suggestion with "I know it's expensive but... it's the best". I about fell over when I saw the price tag of $9.99 for one spool. Remember: I had been buying the 'Great Value' @ Wal-Mart for only .99 She explained to me how she was having trouble with skipped stitches, bobbin hang ups and excessive dust in her bobbin case (Teresa, can you believe the stuff I am talking about now) ... and then once she used it was like sewing with silk. Boy, was she right.

The long staple Mako' cotton is very smooth, and strong.  Prevents bulky thread build up when you are stitching micro stipple. It is also perfect for invisible ditch stitching, as the thread disappears into the valley between the seams.

Last night as I was finishing up an order 'the silk' ran out. I debated whether to finish the order using 'Great Value' or wait until tomorrow to pick up my Aurfil. I must not have remembered how bad the Great Value was and I threaded it up. BIG MISTAKE. BIG DIFFERENCE. Within 10-15 stitches I was hung in the bobbin'.

full moon colors

Last week while we were on vacation Tyler started asking "What color is that" I'm sure this is something Mrs. Cheryl does with him throughout the day. Based on his answers when I ask him "What color is that" I'm also sure Mrs. Cheryl thinks 'Mommy needs to work with Tyler on colors'

Typically everything is GREEN. It is his favorite color. All cars are green, his shoes are always green, both of our cars are green, he even told me my hair was green one day. Then Friday I asked Tyler "What color is Daddy's car ?" Tyler said "Poople" (purple) I had to come up with a fun way to get Tyler to learn his colors.

These little guys are perfect. I finished them up this morning and he LOVES THEM. He calls then his "ools". We tested them over breakfast at Cracker Barrel and they are going to work. We kept saying "Tyler was color is this owl" - he did pretty good. We still need to work on Amy Butler Cherry Full Moon Red.

What 3 year old wouldn't love to learn their colors using the ENTIRE Amy Butler Full Moon Line ? While we were learning our colors 2-3 people came to ask us "Where did you get those", "Oh my gosh, are those owls, where did you get those"

So you guessed it. Here they are. 

Would these little guys not  just be the SewCute'st stocking stuffers OR classroom Christmas presents. I will be happy to make these in singles or greater than 7, just convo me through SewCuteShop.

After breakfast my mom and Rachel were nice enough to take the kiddos to the aquarium.I had great plans to go home and work on some sewing. Instead I decided to browse through one of our local antique shops. I really forget how much I like looking at antiques until I go. I did find the most precious vintage embroidered pillowcases. I have never used a pillowcase to make anything. But I have to say:

This Lily Apron Top can be used for so much more than just an apron. In fact, I don't even think I'll be using mine as an apron. I made this one tonight, sorry for the BAD photos again. Ty was very caught up in his football game...
